John Schreck Art

Who Is John Schreck

Guided by a masterful eye for detail, John Schreck transforms life’s moments into works of art.

John Schreck’s work uniquely captures the nature of light and shadow to portray everything from the electrifying drama of Olympic competition to the quiet tenderness between a mother and child. His works can crystallize a split second in time — from a ballerina’s motion mid-pirouette to the engineering intricacy of the Hubble Space Walk — always rendered with a precision that makes each moment feel eternal.

Mr. Schreck’s work has taken him from the natural world to commissioned works that celebrate scientific achievement, to a nationwide Olympic-themed exhibition of rowing, kayaking, and canoeing – and far beyond. A celebrated portrait artist, John has painted such icons as President Bill Clinton for the Coast Guard Academy, Katharine Hepburn, Paul Newman, and Tom Brokaw, as well as a wide range of leaders, families, and children—always to reveal the true spirit of the person behind the image.

John studied art and design at Rochester Institute of Technology, and spent a storied career in freelance illustration and original painted artwork for major corporations and advertising agencies. Over the years, John shared his talents as an instructor at the Rochester Institute of Technology, the Art Institute of Boston, Massachusetts School of Art, and Vesper George School of Art.
